Sam makes good comeback

After a disasterous wreck in the last race at Bronson, the old racecar comes in 3rd Saturday night.

Sam opted to run a local show at New Smyrna on Saturday night rather than the Goodyear 100 lap at Lake city. Despite the bad wreck it endured at Bronson, the old racecar was put back together (less the numbers and graphics), and ready to race.
Sam started way back in the field and made his way to the front, walking away with the first heat. Even though he won the heat, it didn’t change the lineup for the main race—he still started way back in the pack. At the drop of the green, an incident happened coming out of turn 4 and the 84 car ended up in the wall by #27. Sam was directly behind #27 and had slight damage to his nose, but nothing major. The race then went green from start to finish. Davy Gibbs, driving #47, had a great run at the front. Held up by slower cars, neither Sam nor the #60 car (driven by Akins) could get even close to #47, who went on win the race with Akins in 2nd and Sam coming home in 3rd.
Sam having fun in the garage. After being taken away from the track in an ambulance in his last race at New Smyrna, this was a good result for Sam, hopefully marking the start of better things to come. There won’t be another Goodyear series race until July, so New Smyrna may see Sam a little bit more. Come cheer him on!
