Sam does well against super late model field

Sam Watts Racing

With the 73 car set up for New Smyrna and only completing 2 laps in his last race, Sam and the team decided to get some seat time against some of the best super late drivers around by racing in the 50 lap feature at New Smyrna Saturday night. He qualified reasonably well, starting in the 10th spot alongside his crew chief Michael Williams. So Mike’s son Michael Sean stepped in and became Sam’s crew chief for the night.

Sam settled in well and remained calm as cars were dropping out all around him. He maintained a great pace while staying very patient, just driving his own race. He lacked a lot of power on the straight-aways, but held his own around the turns. He stayed out of trouble and brought the 73 car home to take the checkered flag in 4th place. This was a great achievement for Sam, as he was about 200 horse power less than the super late motors and about 250 pounds heavier. Sam came off the track a very happy person. He thanked Michael Sean for stepping in as crew chief and congratulated him on a great race.

Sam’s next race is at Lakeland on Saturday, September 2nd. Come and cheer for Sam in his next race—he needs your support!
