After the clean up from Hurricane
Charley, racing resumed at NSS. The drivers were all
set and ready for action. The 12 cars were separated
into 2 heats; Sam finished 2nd in his heat, which put
him inside 2nd row for the feature. The 77 car started
in front of Sam.
At the drop of the green flag the
77 set off, followed closely by Sam. At the end of turn
3, Sam had the lead, followed closely by 64, Don Hess.
The battle quickly narrowed in on these 2 cars as they
pulled away from the rest of the field. Don Hess tried
many attempts to pass Sam, but Sam managed to fend off
Don's experience and maintain his lead until the last
lap when Hess tried one last attempt. Fortunately, Sam
managed to hang On and take his 1st checkered flag in
the Late Model Series.
