Night For Sam, But He Stays Strong

After the last 2 races were rained out, it looked like
Saturday night was going to be no different. During
testing that afternoon, the car was good and Sam
was happy with the set
up, so they waited for either the
racing to start or the rain to come. Fortunately the
racing started first. As Sam left pit row for his 2
laps of qualifying, something broke in the rear end,
thus not allowing him to qualify.
The team worked frantically
to get the car fixed and ready
to race. They finished just as the cars were lining
up on the front stretch for the start of the race.
Without any time to test, the race started with Sam
in the rear
in the 20th spot. He started out slowly and cautiously
passed cars on his way to the front. He got caught
behind a a car that continued to block, so he tried
tapping him
out of the way, but unfortunately the #53 car spun
around, putting sam back to the rear again. He started
to go through
the field again, but by this point he was having difficulty
with the handling of his car and he wasn't able to
drive it as hard as he would like. At the checkered
flag Sam
was in 9th place. He got out of his car saying how
tough of a race it was and how hard he had worked
to control the car towards the end race.
It was a good
result for VCR race cars who had to work real hard
to get the car fixed before the race started. Sam
still maintains his 2nd place in points but only
slightly.
Our next race will be Columbia in
Lake City on August 20th.
