Lakeland

Saturday night racing at Lakeland
- this was Sams first visit to Lakeland and how overpowering
it was. Unfortunately, Sam didn't qualify well, ending
up in the 22nd starting position. The race got off well
but as the caution fell, Sam found out that he had lost
all gears in his transmission except 4th gear. He came
to the pits for the crew to check it out. They determined
he was good to go but had to restart from the back of
the pack.
Sam was running a great race and was
passing the slower cars with ease. He advanced to 9th
position at one point, but then he got snagged behind
a slower car who wouldn't let Sam get by. Although he
was faster and Sam tried tapping to let him know he
was behind, unfortunately the car got loose and came
down on Sam, spinning out. The officials determined
it was Sam's fault, so they put him to the rear.
After starting in 22nd position and
getting send back to the rear of the pack twice, with
only 15 laps remaining Sam managed to get a great finish
at 13th place. Not bad for a rookie on his first trip
to Lakeland with a blown transmission. We will be back
again!

on Friday, May 27.
